Fresh from the Mediterranean

Mediterranean off Cyprus is nutrient-poor – less fish than North Sea. Much is imported. But knowing the seasons and where to buy: fresh Mediterranean fish at reasonable prices.

Seasonal Calendar

Year-round: sardines, sea bream, sea bass (aquaculture). Spring: swordfish, red mullet. Summer: tuna, squid, octopus. Autumn (best): bream, snapper. Winter: less fresh, more imported.

This was exactly our experience: Direct from fishermen at small harbors (30-50% cheaper).

– Family from Nuremberg, in Limassol since 2022

Where to Buy
