Coffee in Cyprus – A Social Ritual

"Pame gia kafe" doesn't mean a quick espresso – it means two hours of sitting, talking, and enjoying life. In the traditional kafenio, men spend entire afternoons over a single coffee. For Germans used to quick morning filter coffee, it's an adjustment – and then an enrichment.

Three Coffee Worlds

Cypriot Coffee (briki, sand-brewed, never stir, €1.50-2.50). Freddo Espresso (double espresso shaken with ice, €2.50-3.50 – the island obsession). Frappé (Nescafé shaken with ice, the 90s classic). No filter coffee exists – order Americano instead.

This was exactly our experience: Three Coffee Worlds Cypriot Coffee (briki, sand-brewed, never stir, €1.50-2.50). Freddo Espresso (double espresso shaken with ice, €2.
